Rather than simply describing components, each chapter explains:

The books draw directly on more than thirty years of experience in the motorcycle industry, much of it spent working alongside technicians as they adapted to the rapidly advancing technologies found on modern motorcycles. Rather than following the requirements of any single national curriculum, they are written around the universal principles and practical skills that technicians need every day, with the emphasis firmly on the systems and technologies found in today's workshop rather than those that have long since passed into history. My hope is that, while intended primarily for technicians and students, they will also prove to be an enlightening read for motorcycle enthusiasts who want to understand the engineering behind the machines they ride.
